The 2005-2006 Alumni Awards

This year, Kellogg's Annual Alumni Awards Dinner was held on Thursday, May 18th at the James L. Allen Center. The event honors distinguished individuals who have given their time, energy, and expertise to the Kellogg School and includes alumni as well as non-alumni friends.

The Kellogg Schaffner Award
Established in 1984 by the Kellogg Alumni Advisory Board, the Schaffner Award honors alumni who are preeminent in their fields and who have provided outstanding service to the Kellogg School. Joseph Schaffner was born in Ohio in 1848 to immigrant parents. At age 39, he co-founded the men's clothing store of Hart, Shaffner & Marx. He was committed to making business education accessible to working people. In 1908, Shaffner persuaded 60 Chicago businessmen to join with him in opening a School of Commerce at Northwestern University, with evening classes for people who worked. Today, that school - now the Kellogg School of Management - is one of the finest business school's in the world.
